There is a lot of advice out there about how to be a successful entrepreneur.
Management skills.
Building the right team.
Resiliency.
Social media prowess.
… The list goes on.
But a successful entrepreneur must start with themselves. You must know yourself and know your passion to ensure you have the right mindset for everything else.
Investors often say that there are millions of ideas, but few people who successfully carry them out. And this is why they look for the person behind the idea first and foremost.
To better understand yourself and your values, think about 3 things:
- What do you like to do?
- What are you good at?
- What are the things that make you happy?
This exercise is very simple and can be done at home or even on the back of a napkin at a coffee shop as you read this post.
It lasts about 15 minutes and you have to write as many qualities and concepts as possible about the three points described.
Once written, go through the list and sort the items into categories. Spend about 15 minutes to group the items and see the themes that are developing.
Take a step back now and look at the list. Identify items that checked all boxes.
This is the jackpot.
After this exercise, you should leave 15 days of reflection before defining the business idea you want to create. Following this incubation time you will have the answer to your question and you will have an idea to run with. This will set you up for success as you face the challenges ahead.
