“If a person is determined to be successful he will be successful”

ABOUT ENTREPRENEURSHIP

  • It is a lot about serendipity and a lot about connecting points.
  • I am an IP lawyer with 12 years of experience. I worked with universities and I worked with creative people. I did entrepreneurship when entrepreneurship was not a fashion.
  • With talent, you build assets than you build a business model and you find money.
  • I love to see talent creative people and build assets and then help those assets become business models.
  • I believe in creativity, innovation 200%. The slogan in my incubator is like “The crazier your idea the better, I am there for you”.
  • I believe in crazy people. So I believe that talent is the most important resource.
  • I wanted to be the lawyer of creative people.
  • If a person is determined to be successful he will be successful.
  • I believe in other people who can use intuition and make it a business model.
  • Convince a market that you invented, that has more value than just duplicating a business model that worked in another country.

“You can innovate in different ways: the way you communicate, the way you do your product or service. Everything can be an innovative solution”

ABOUT INNOVATION

  • You can innovative in a way you attend your clients, cause of acquisition or cause of clients.
  • You can innovate in different ways: the way you communicate, the way you do your product or service. Everything can be an innovative solution.
  • In the end, innovation is a product or service, this whole innovation process has to land.
  • I saw a market that needed more of my service, that was the creative people. It is about the question: “So what solution should I have to this problem.”
  • Now I can combine my knowledge with my passion which is communication.  I want to do this for the rest of my life.
  • Discover the talent of entrepreneurs and match them with investors doing the whole negotiation process because it’s also a lot about breaking cultural barriers.
  • It does not matter where an entrepreneur is born as long as he or she has a global vision he can go everywhere. And he can have an investor with an international mindset that can put the start-up on a different level.

“The creative person who develops something is the owner”

ABOUT INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

  • IP is Intellectual property. It is the way you protect your creativity. It is the way you protect what your mind produces.
  • You see it a lot in the music industry because the artists have a really strong bond with their creations. It’s like their sons.
  • IP is the regulation of Intellectual property that comes from your intellect. And
  • It is a regulation that is owned by the worlds Intellectual property organization.
  • The creative person who develops something is the owner.

“People should focus on what they do best: the talent of the professor is doing research and the talent of the company is selling and making money”

ABOUT IP WITH PROFESSORS AND BUSINESS

  • There is a legal assumption, that when someone pays you to do research, the person who is paying for the research, is the owner of the idea. It depends on the policy, of each university. So, this is one relation.
  • The professors have its mind, its creativity that’s free. So it’s all knowing about how to negotiate.
  • The business knows about the market and they know how to produce money with that IP.
  • It is matching the knowledge and the IP with the assets resulting from IP with the ones who know how to produce money with the assets.
  • Professors can be like an advisory or consultant, as an expert in some field, giving advice to the business. Or generating an agreement: that whatever is delivered from universities or business, will have some royalties for the professor.
  • Important for business to align expectations, that’s the way to avoid conflict.
  • When expectations are clear for both parties, everything is easy to manage.
  • Focus on what they know how to do better, so the professor can continue in doing research and the company should be focusing on doing the money.
  • People should focus on what they do best: the talent of the professor is doing research and the talent of the company is selling and making money.
