ABOUT THE COLLABORATION
A survey of May 2011, acknowledged that UK universities contributed a lot to the UK economy. Especially in research collaborations. Universities contribution to research collaborations varied in type. Most of universities contribution included: offering their service to businesses, provide access to research knowledge in businesses and asked universities to deliver, training and consult in organizations.

In the UK there are many organizations that choose to work in collaboration with higher education and academics. The increase of collaborations demonstrates that engagement in collaborative research is seen as valuable. Especially for designing and stimulating new ideas and spurring new approaches. The main reason for the engagement is to exchange knowledge, deliver training and offer consults with businesses and organizations.
ABOUT THE OUTCOME
The results of this study showed that UK universities contributed a lot to the UK economy. Kingston University-London was one of the universities who noticed the importance of research collaborations for UK eco-system. With a total of 554 start-ups in its portfolio, Kingston University still has a leading position in the research partnership of the ecosystem in the United Kingdom. Moreover, the survey revealed that engagement with a large business increases with 6% in 2012.
ABOUT THE RESEARCH
The survey showed that most research partnerships included Universities offering their service to business, usage of research knowledge in business or delivery in training and consultancy. The engagement between universities with large business increased by 6%. Organizations in the public and tertiary-sector use research partnerships for consultancy, training and to have access to intellectual property.
ABOUT THE PARTNERS
The partners included Kingston University, London, and business in various types of sectors.
